The Bachelor Degree in Economics & Management provides students with a solid understanding of the international economic and financial system, and strong managerial skills.
The degree programme allows for a truly international and diverse cohort as it gathers students from all over the world, enriching students’ learning process. With the support of tutors, internships, job placement services, and experience abroad, the students will be fully prepared to meet the current and future demands of a competitive job market and business world.

Students are trained in the fields of Economics, Law, Mathematics/ Statistics and Business.
Delivery mode
Our hope and intention for 2021/22 intake are to entirely restore in-person teaching, while respecting any health and safety requirements set by national and local competent authorities.
In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, should students not be able to attend classes in person, a hybrid format of in-person and on-line will be guaranteed to enable attendance from home, while guaranteeing full access to all learning opportunities and resources.

Admission requirements
The Bachelor in Economics and Management requires proficiency in English, a strong background in Mathematics and a good standing in candidates’ overall scholastic record, in addition to general diploma requirements to be admitted into an undergraduate degree program in Italy.
Mathematics requirements
Due to the competitive nature of the program, all applications will be evaluated based on high school GPA, performance in Mathematics and considering places available. Candidates must prove that they have a solid background in Mathematics, which is one of the most challenging courses included in the first year of the study plan.
Please find a list of the basic concepts that prospective students need to have learned to be able to attend the classes of Mathematics with proficiency:
- Basic set theory
- Numerical sets (natural, rational and real numbers, inequalities, powers with integer and rational exponent)
- Exponentials and logarithms (basic notions, equations and inequalities)
- Elementary algebra (operations with monomials, polynomials and special products, first-degree and second-degree equations and inequalities, rational equations and inequalities, systems of equations and inequalities)
- Coordinate geometry (Cartesian coordinates; distance formula; the midpoint of a line segment; equations and basic properties of straight line, parabola and circle; parallel and perpendicular lines, condition to ensure that a given point belongs to a curve)
1. Candidates who wish to increase their chances of admission into the programme can present one of the tests below:
- SAT (Scholastic Assessment test administered by the College Board) with scores in Math and Evidence-based Reading and Writing.
Recommended minimum score for each section: 560.
Candidates must upload a copy of their Official SAT Score Report (.pdf document) - downloadable from the personal page on the College Board website - to their online application and send it electronically as well from their College Board account to Università Cattolica (our code is 7414). The report must include the full name/surname of the applicant and Your Total Score, Sections Scores and Test Scores. - ACT (American College Testing). Recommended minimum scores for Composite and Maths sections: 23. Candidates must upload the Official ACT Score Report in .pdf document, downloadable from the candidate's personal page on the ACT website, to the online application.
- Cattolica admission test offered online with a passing score. Successful completion of the admission test is equivalent to successful completion of the Initial Preparation Verification (VPI).

2. Candidates who fall under one of the following categories are required to take one of the tests listed above in point 1:
- Absence of Maths as a subject in the last 2 years of High school
- IB Maths Studies / IB Application & Interpretation SL
- American or Canadian diploma
3. IBD & A-level candidates who meet the following minimum grade listed may decide not to present one of the above-mentioned tests, and may be directly evaluated for admission:
- IBD Maths SL/ HL: A minimum of 4 points is expected. A grade of at least 5 is highly recommended.
- IBD A&I HL: A minimum of 4 points is expected. A grade of at least 5 is highly recommended.
- IBD A&A SL/HL: A minimum of 4 points is expected. A grade of at least 5 is highly recommended.
- A-level Mathematics: minimum grade C
4. The International Admissions Office reserves the right to communicate to candidates the need to take any of the tests mentioned in point 1 to increase their chances of admission. This decision will be communicated to candidates via email and their Self Service Center.
Secondary School Diploma Requirements
The following requirements are based on the guidelines for admission published every year by the Italian Ministry for Education.
All candidates must:
- complete high school studies and hold their Secondary School Diploma before August 30, 2021
- hold a high school qualification conferred after a minimum of 12 years of previous global schooling and achieved after at least 2 years of attendance within the same national education system.
Qualifications obtained after 11 or 10 years of global schooling do not allow access to Italian universities, unless candidates satisfy one of the following additional conditions:
- They attended one (in case of 11 years) or two (in case of 10 years) years of university studies and took all the exams included in the relevant study plan. No transfer of credits can be requested for the university studies.
- They can provide evidence that they attended a pre-school year (this usually applies to some Latin American countries), which can be taken into consideration only if its attendance was compulsory, and its syllabus included development of reading and writing skills in the local language. Its validity must be certified by the relevant Italian Embassy.
- They successfully completed a Foundation Course from an Italian University. Foundations courses from non-Italian universities are not automatically accepted and their suitability as diploma integration will be evaluated case by case.
Proof of English Proficiency
Candidates need to upload a recognized English language certificate to the online application. Students who apply to degree courses taught in English satisfy the language requirement if they provide one of the following certificates, issued starting from January 1, 2019:

Course content
The undergraduate programme has a common curriculum in the first two years and offers a specialization in either Economics or Management in the third year. The major in Economics is designed for students who wish to gain a background in the field of economic sciences. It gives students the necessary tools to carry out active roles in business decision processes by interpreting business phenomena through the understanding of theories, quantitative analysis techniques and the most up-to-date institutional references.
The major in Management is aimed at developing skills, knowledge and abilities with reference to the administration and management of firms, the execution of functions and processes affecting the most important and critical areas of companies, and the resolution of problems between functional areas.
